Meeting schedule is typically:
1:30pm-2:00pm: Social Time
2:00pm-2:30pm: General Meeting
This is only a tentative list and the programs are subject to change. However, we hope this helps when planning your ‘art’ calendar.
The public is welcome to attend any of our meetings. Artists of all skill levels and "art lovers" are encouraged to participate.
About Our Meetings
Daytime meetings are held once a month. Each meeting features a demonstration of new and unique techniques with time for questions and answers. Refreshments are served and guests are welcome. The general meeting is held at the Opportunity House in Hendersonville. Meetings begin at 1:30pm, usually on the second Sunday of each month.
January 8 - Meeting canceled due to weather
February 12 - John Anderson will present on all things related to Whiskey Paintings
March 12 - Alec Hall will discuss his pastel techniques for developing his paintings "Pulling Hard" and "High Three"
April 9 - Pamela Haddock will be our guest artist with a demonstration of her Watercolor painting technique
May 21 -- Please note date change! - Guest Jim Carson will demonstrate his contemporary impressionist painting. Sampling of his paintings are "After the Rain in Asheville" and "Pearson Falls"
May 21 meeting --- Member Challenge! Subject matter is "Floral"
June 11 - Lenore Barnett will be our guest artist demonstrating her Oil painting techniques. Several of her pieces are: "October Shadows" "Enchantment" "Radiant"
July 9 - Mike Alonzo will be hosting a demonstration on oil painting
August 13 --- Member Challenge! Subject is anything that starts with the letter "M".
Also at the August meeting, Roll up your sleeves and join the Starving Artist for an easy and fun print-making session. We will be printing with the new Gel Plates by Speedball to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind prints for a wide variety of projects. By incorporating stencils, household items, found objects and, elements from nature, you can easily create truly unique and beautiful art pieces perfect for a wide range of applications. Your prints can be final fine art pieces, or the perfect background for a painting or mixed-media pieces. Speedball artist, Kim Dunham will guide us through a hands-on demo using a variety of inks and surfaces.
September 10 - Sandra Brugh Moore, an accomplished watercolorist, will be demonstrating her technique.
October 15 - Susan Webb-Tregay presents her colorful and fun, acrylic and watercolor paintings that were developed from her exposure to folk art in Hendersonville, NC.
November 12 - John Anderson - ALHC 2017 Fall Member Show (art hanging on Nov 11)
December 12th- Holiday luncheon at Hendersonville Country Club
Monthly art hanging at the Opportunity House occurs the Friday before the monthly meeting. Drop your paintings off between 9am-9:30am (no late entries), $5 hanging fee. Please see our gallery rules and regulations found here.
